From Day 6 of the program, participants begin 6 - 10 sessions of pro bono client coaching hours. This allows you to practise new skills as you learn them, build coaching confidence, and receive support from facilitators.
For the final evaluation, you will use a recorded coaching session with your pro bono client to demonstrate your skills and complete the ICF Level 1 program requirements.
Program assessments
An Open Book Test is required to be completed before Day 10 of the program.
A recorded coaching session with your pro bono client is submitted for the ICF Level 1 Final Evaluation.
Mentoring
Mentoring is an essential component of coach training and is required by the ICF before applying for your credential. This program includes the required 10 mentoring sessions.
Training pre-requisites
Participants are required to have at least 3 years work experience and the ability to undertake study at the equivalent and higher of Level 6-7 NZQA Standards (Diploma level).
Lifetime access and ongoing Alumni support
Our alumni enjoy ongoing support, lifetime access to our resources, and opportunities to stay connected and continue their professional development.
Cultural Respect and Inclusion
This program is grounded in the ICF Core Competencies and reflects internationally recognised coaching standards. We acknowledge that participants bring a range of cultural values, worldviews, and lived experiences to their learning.
NZIC respects Te Tiriti o Waitangi and recognises the unique place of Māori as tangata whenua in Aotearoa New Zealand. While this program does not include cultural or tikanga-based coaching content (practices grounded in Māori cultural values, protocols, and ways of working), we are committed to creating a respectful and inclusive learning environment for all participants.
We encourage participants to reflect on how the material aligns with their own values, traditions, and professional context, and to adapt their coaching practice in ways that are culturally appropriate and meaningful to them.
What Makes NZIC Unique
NZIC stands out as a boutique coach education organisation dedicated to personalised learning and support. All our facilitators are experienced, ICF‑credentialed coaches who bring diverse backgrounds and real‑world expertise, offering you a truly personalised coaching education.
Small cohorts foster strong peer connections, with many students continuing to exchange coaching and support long after the program ends. From the early stages, you’ll engage in practical coaching practice within a safe and supportive group of peers, as well as with real clients, developing skills you can apply immediately.
Our four‑month program strikes an effective balance - long enough for you to become deeply familiar with coaching skills, practise them regularly, and integrate the coaching mindset into your everyday life and work, yet focused enough to maintain momentum and motivation. Each concept builds on the last, with time between modules for reflection, integration, and hands‑on practice, so you’re not just learning theory - you’re living it.
Above all, we focus on helping you grow in self‑awareness and presence, empowering you to build strong, successful, and meaningful coaching partnerships.
